Peer Mentor - Bechtel Innovation & Design Center

Printing and Prototyping Lab

Overview

The Bechtel Innovation and Design Center at Purdue is the campus' largest makerspace, open to all students on campus. I serve as a Peer Mentor and Lab TA in the Printing and Prototyping lab where I engage with students to guide them along through the rapid prototyping process.

I work with many different types of equipment in the lab, including laser cutters, resin 3D printers, injection molders, and SLS printers. I not only maintain these machines, but I teach other students how to properly operate and design for these machines. I frequently interface with students to consult on their projects, determining optimal materials or processes, and then advising on design constraints and guidelines.
